Useful Outdoor Apps
With modern technology comes about some really useful tools – tools that hikers and mountaineers from ages past would die for. There are Apps available in today’s market that can track your progress and share all the details about the hike; details such as altitude gain, distance, weather, pictures of trail quality, difficulty and much much more. In this section, I hope to share and shed some light on some of these invaluable tools.

Alltrails
The hiking app behemoth – Alltrails is a staple for any trekkers from all walks of life. Weather you’re a calloused veteran or green horn amateur, Alltrails has something to offer. The free version is decent enough and paying for the subscription just improves on an already great tool.

Maps.me
Maps.me is relatively new to me as I have just found out about it during my time in Nepal. Though a freshman, this app has already proven itself invaluable as it has helped with our trek through the Himalayas. It’s free version allows downloading 10 free maps.

Hiking Project
As the new kid on the block Hiking Project shows a lot of promise. Still finding its footing, this app still has a lot to prove. It has a lot of tools that hikers need and often use. It also focuses on community and photo sharing. It also focuses on more descriptive information about trails.

Poonhill Trek: What is required and costs
Hiking the Himalayas : Poonhill Mountains hold a certain magic – the towering behemoths have a tight grip on people’s hearts. People naturally just love the mountains. Deep in the Sumatran Jungle
Two Days One Night Jungle Buzz We knew Sumatra as a distant island from its more popular brothers Bali and Java; we knew it from its great coffee beans we often buy in Costco and from the critically endangered Orangutans that can be found deep in its jungles. After some research, we committed on a…
